![]() It's primitive and pathetic in my opinion and a total distraction from the music. Moshing is a human phenonmenon an example of our desperate need to assert our dominance and to participate in something stupid because we think those who are moshing are superior in some way. Then for some reason, they suddenly think it isn't as stupid if it's in a concert environment. What's the point of going to see a band if you're not gonna watch them? You might as well crank up some metal at home with some friends and beat each other up, but nobody does that because they'd look stupid and childish. To Skank was to dance, but in a more violent style. ![]() So synonymous is Skanking with Ska in fact, that the image of it literally became the symbol of Two Tone music. they aren't really fighting, dancing or even paying attention to the live music, which is the biggest issue to me. I think the origins of the mosh pit can be traced to the idea of Skanking, created by the Rude Boys of Ska and Reggae music of the late 50s and 60s. I say that because it's not like you can get good at moshing. In conclusion, I feel moshing is just reckless behavior that doesn't serve any beneficial purpose other than personal enjoyment. We are primordial in many ways and this war dance called moshing is not just a dance it is a culture embedded in our culture. At that point, you're pounding on noobs to feel better about yourself, but at least you're not picking fights with people. The competive nature drives you both to be better, but to jump in on untrained fighters for "fun" is where your intentions begin to blur. It can be a lot of fun to test yourself against your friends, the ones who are training with you. ![]() Fights, is just a part of Marines you'll find them all over the place, we'll break them up, we'll finish a fight. Yes, I might admit to the "Normal" civilian we might be considered insane. To an all out dash, where some guys have actually passed out on runs, bleed out their nose and ears. Everywhere to putting on full gear a sprinting with a guy on your shoulders. We find fun in the, yes, weirdest places. Because it was, the moment inn which we tested our friendship and ability to back each other up, as we fought.
